Between 2024 and 2025, Latin America experienced a rapid increase in electric vehicle (EV) adoption, with sales nearly tripling across the region. Brazil, Mexico, and Chile account for the majority of EV registrations and public charging stations.

Despite this growth, many countries and rural areas remain underserved, creating barriers for new EV owners. Analysts emphasize that unequal infrastructure distribution may lead to “range anxiety,” limiting the potential for EV adoption outside major urban centers.

Governments and private companies are now planning coordinated investments to expand networks, with a focus on highway corridors, residential charging, and smart charging solutions. By improving accessibility and reliability, the region can sustain EV growth, support environmental goals, and enhance the overall user experience for electric vehicle drivers.
